Inspiration: 35 Amazing Vector Landscapes

Inspiration: 35 Amazing Vector Landscapes

Landscapes aren’t necessarily the first thing that come to mind when one thinks of vector artwork. After all, landscapes are often very nuanced and hold a wide variety of shapes, colors, and patterns that can be difficult to mimic in a vector image. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some incredibly talented vector artists out there creating beautiful landscapes, some of which are almost photo-realistic (especially if viewed from a distance).

Below are 35 great vector landscapes. Most of them look like a digital version of those paint-by-numbers kits so many of us did as children. Some are more abstract, but some could almost be mistaken for photos if viewed at smaller sizes. If you know of other vector landscapes you’d like to share, please do so in the comments!

Some of these just can’t compare to others..just wow @ mechanically separated…

I agree, some of these are truly amazing. Others look like they have just hit the live trace button. Like those awful canvases people sell of Al Pacino or Audrey Hepburn, etc where they have just live traced a photo and expect people to spend a couple of hundred pounds on them!

Yes… I agree u r Comment. Someone just hit the live trace button (e.s: Landscape 7 by darksithanakin) , some of these are truly amazing there r Amazing Vector Landscapes. (e.s: Mechanically Separated by GrantCodak)

        thanks.

  • amanda

Most of these are great but Some of these kind of look like they use the trace feature.

Some of these are very great and inspiring! I think I should try to do this, too! The (almost) photorealistic landscapes are awesome!

    Some are inspiring, thanks.
Btw, you may also enjoy the round-up I once made: http://findinspirations.com/2009/08/30-stunning-landscape-illustrations/ (these are not uniquely vectors though)

wow let me tell you, THOSE ARE AMAZING!!! and the ones here too!

I think that all landscapes from darksithanakin are simply traced photographies … nice shots, but nothing to do with pure vector drawings …

  • http://pica-ae.deviantart.com pica-ae

some of them are really stunning, others unfortunately look like they used live trace

  • http://www.4leafdesign.net Dan

Many of these are live traced which requires NO skill or talent. They should not be on this list.

I would have titled this article, “A Collection Of Potential Website Footers” … :)

  • garag

The great ones are made with live trace…
The ugly ones….is just people with bad taste and experience using illustrator… :S

    • Jeff

Hmm, I was thinking precisely the opposite…

Good design here, but I really apreciate only thse that are fully drawin Illustrator, not traced from photos

  • http://www.webdesignkc.co.uk/ Rory

Lovely work, I look that ‘cutout’ filter look darksithanakin has absolutely nailed it. Love this blog!

  • Avery

I thought “Mechanically Separated” was the most impressive as well.

Dark’s “Landscape 41″ looks like either the tracing tool gave better results due to the snow or he came in after the fact and made some much needed edits (I’m suspecting edits). This one instance looked fairly good to me. I don’t generally care for the trace tool though. It just makes photography look muddy.

  • Danny

some are cool but a lot just look like live paint which is lame

Very nice vector designs here. I totally love this list and wish to add one more but for the life of me, I can not find the url for the one(s) I’m looking for.

Some of these are very much like the style of UK railway posters of the 30′s.
    Artist’s such as Frank Newbould:

    And Norman Wilkinson:

    used bold flat colours too.

My boyfriend sent me this link today…my ‘Japanese Landscape’ was on it. I had no idea! Anyway, it was done years and years ago for an Illustrator class in college. I only got a B on it. :(

Nice picture, and a B is still a good mark :)
