Kelli Anderson: Design to Challenge Reality

Just because you missed that awesome conference, doesn’t mean that you can’t still watch the lectures! This weekend we’re sharing an inspiring talk by designer Kelli Anderson at TEDx Phoenix. Kelli shatters our expectations about reality by injecting humor and surprise into everyday objects. At TEDxPhoenix she shares her disruptive and clever designs.

Fantastic! Great to see a glimpse of an alternative reality.

I now know that the reason I stopped going to conferences is because there are usually too many people like this, who have a knack of stating the blindingly obvious, admittedly in an amusing way. But then I can go see a good stand-up show, probably for less money.

But really . . . making connections between things that were previously unconnected? That’s the very definition of creativity; I was given that over forty years ago when i was at college. And guess what? I can make anagrams out of my name too. Crossword puzzles are full of anagrams. Nothing new there then.

The paper-recording wedding invitation? Cute. But only in America where too many people have more money than they know what to do with and a minority of the world’s population consume the vast majority of the world’s resources—and celebrate it!

A magazine called Viz has been doing the alternate reality/alternate newspaper thing in the UK every month since the 70s. (Including the ads).

I stopped watching at that point.
