  1. laura says:

the depressing moral of this post: there’s a lot of weak underwater vector art.

  2. Really great compilation and artwork. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Shoxite says:

    Beautiful work indeed!

  4. Beth McLain says:

    Nuna …. SO CUTE.. I love it… :D

. Munchie Squid & Tortuga are beautiful too..

  5. Icon Tut says:

  6. Melody says:

‘The Sea Necklace’ is an awesome concept!

  7. digitalove says:

there are only a few good illustrations here, most of them you can see while trawling deviantart for 10 mins.

  8. Lisa says:

Wow excellent Images and Tutorials. It has inspired me a lot.

  9. Unfortunately 90% of those images are a weak inspiration. Are there really so little good vector based underwater images I think not. IMO you should be more careful and selective while choosing images for inspiration.

      Ok, I accept your wishes.

    • You sir, fail. You do not see the color harmony, the balance created between elements, the concept, the basic idea, composition, techniques used, how many hours of study to bring up the anatomy, structure and expression of each character. You are one of the parasites that ruin a designer’s hard work with a harsh critiques that aren’t backed up with real, tangible arguments.

When this article was published, i picked up my pen and tablet and try to obtain similar things!

      • Of course I see the colour harmony, the balance and the composition. But does that mean that every piece of work that follows the basic rules has to inspire me? While it’s great that those pieces made you pick up your tablet, they didn’t work for me…

And one more thing… I don’t know about your country, but in mine calling people parasites is considered rude :-)

I think it’s a bit harsh to judge someone’s character because you disagree with them. Art is subjective and what makes it so good is that not everyone has the same opinions.

    • titude says:

I agree with Bartosz and digitalove , this collection isn’t the best, didn’t really spark anything for me, if it works for you then more power to you.

  10. Peach says:

Some are pretty good especially the Cthulhu one. Love the detail. Some others are pretty mediocre.

  11. JN says:

Agreed, most of these images are mediocre at best and I hope tutsplus doesn’t go the way of smashingmagazine and translate “content” into roundups and lists, especially “inspirations”, which tend to be the worst type of content out there. I know it’s pretty. But how do I do that?

I come here for tutorials, not lists! Esp, mediocre ones.

  12. Bryan G. C. says:

Wow. I like this selection, need to master the mesh tool…

  13. Castiyo says:

Hi, I’m the author of one of the posted illustration you have here. I thank you for the “choosing”. Next time let me know that you’re gonna post something by me (if there is any..), ‘coz I only came across this blog by chance. Thanks, all the same.
