Okay that was less than constructive mainly a criticism of tutsplus and less about the actual art piece. The airbrush appearance went way overboard the final product doesn’t feel clean but like a smudge because of the way gradients were used not to mention the outer glow on the final image. Not only that but the birds nest sticks probably didn’t need outlines which only draw attention to the fact that they look like bad scribbles.

I dunno, I kinda like the final illustration. It’s just a matter of a different aesthetic. Although I do think I agree with you on the outlines on the sticks. It would maybe look a bit more cohesive without them…

Looks nice but how is this a twitter bird? It would have been nice to read about characteristics that make a bird twitter-like….

I recently made a sexy twitter bird kind of like jessica rabbit..

Maybe it’s the line weight mixed with the effect that isn’t working harmoniously..

I think it mostly depends on the resolution/image size… in the Tut thumbnail it shows the finished image way smaller and I think it looks rad once it is actually made a smaller icon size ( i.e. less than 120×120).

Based on the tut thumbnail I think it works pretty well as an icon.

Nice illustration but the end result is not what’s advertised :/

    Doesn’t look like an icon.
