To me, Icons are up there with Fonts as some sort of design crack. I'm not sure when I got hooked, but it's been a while now and my hard drive is crammed with icon sets of all shapes and varieties. So when we launched GraphicRiver a couple months ago there was no question as to whether we'd have an icon section. Even though it's still early days there are already a ton of great icon sets, and in this post I thought I'd showcase a few of the best, starting with WeFunction's massive 275 icon set!

Great resource, shame they’re not free :-0

@web design cheltenham: Why does everything needs to be free? I don’t think it’s good to have everything free of charge. How are we supposed to pay our rent?
If something is good, its worth some money…

What he said ^^^

Agreed, but this is a site that is based on free content – tutorials, articles, etc. If we were in the market to buy these things, then we’d go to the appropriate site.

Nothings for Free in this world….
Great source of icons, my web design is gonna kick ass, thanks

So is this what the tuts websites have become? Just them promoting Graphic River?
( )PiE May 21st
My feelings exactly.

for graphic design week, lets turn vectortuts into advertising for Graphic River….
I’m not complaining that the stuff isnt free, (although I am broke so its a bit taunting) but that its just outright just posting product from one other website?
i could just go to graphic river for that
( )liam May 20th
Seriously did you even read the schedule?
http://psd.tutsplus.com/articles/news/this-week-is-graphic-design-week-on-psdtuts-vectortuts/
I’ll paste some of the titles here too, and you point out to me exactly how any of these are just Tutsplus promoting Graphic River.
Create a Five-color Magazine Cover using a Spot Metallic.
Teach Yourself Graphic Design: A Self-Study Course Outline.
Design and Print Bold Promo Cards in 60 Minutes.
Preparing and Talking About Your Graphic Design Portfolio.
Creating a Rockstar Brand, Logo & Styleguide in Illustrator
Create a Business Card in Illustrator and Print it with UPrinting.
Make a Quick’n’Dirty Letterhead in … MS Word!
A 20 Minute Intro to Typography.
That’s just a handful of articles from an astonishing collection. It’s a strange accusation you make, considering there are so many quality articles already and many to look forward to.
A bit of self promotion isn’t something to complain about, I’m sure there’s plenty of people who have had their eyes opened to the great stuff Graphic River has to offer.
I for one think the Team have done a great job of bringing a wide range of posts forward and although I’m not angry at comments like yours it does surprise me that you’ve posted a comment like that when it clearly is not the case.

Nice!

I agree that there’s not much of a point in posting this stuff when it can all be found in one place. I know they’re trying to get the word out about Graphic River, but it’s just advertising. I don’t mind roundups (although tuts are better) but this wasn’t even a roundup.
But, this stuff is nice. And like people have said, not everything can or should be free. I don’t have the money to buy resources (nor do I really NEED to at this stage, the free ones I can find are good enough for what I’m doing) but it takes time to create quality resources. I won that contest where you got $20 credit at Graphic River though, so maybe I’ll check some of this stuff out.

I’ve got so many of these icons, really loving the icon section of GraphicRiver. I love the sets by hipis. It’s amazing work, the “48 Ultra Cute Vector icons” Blow my mind!
I also really find the Minimo icon set and Pack of 60 Icons by ranfirefly really useful.
On the note of these not being free, I think there comes a point where designers stop relying on free resources. I’ve realized that to get give my designs that added something it’s certainly worth spending $20 or so on an icon set which the client hasn’t seen before.
For sure free icons are great, and there are a lot of good free sets out there. But there will come a point where you realize that you need to buy premium resources if you want to impress, especially on client work.

Thanks for featuring my Detailed Camera Lens and Weather Icon packs!

Great collection!

Although I love to create individual icons for each site that I make, sometimes it doesn’t hurt to just take a break an use some already made ones. Top notch icons here!

I really don’t mind that they’re plugging the new Graphic River. I mean, it is quality design that should have a cost. There is so much quality, free stuff out there on the interweb nowadays, so there’s no need to complain when people wanna make a profit from their hard work.

Great Icons. I’ll definetly buy some for my webdesign materials that I use
.
