Hey everyone! I'm Tom Whalen; mild mannered editorial illustrator by day and rooftop carousing poster artist by night! Feel free to check out my blog/folio strongstuff.net and my DeviantArt page.

This Vector Plus Tutorial is Filled with Creative Techniques

During this tutorial, I'll show you the process for creating one of my illustrated type posters. I love to work type into all of my illustrations for the balance and rhythm it provides to a layout, but I especially love creating images out of type itself...the graphic designer inside of me compels me to do it!

Tutorial Details

  • Tools: Mechanical Pencil + Sketchbook
  • Programs: Adobe Illustrator CS4 and Adobe Photoshop CS4
  • Difficulty: Advanced
  • Estimated Completion Time: 3-4 hours

ok… that’s it. I’m buying a plus membership for sure. Between the free brushes on psdtuts.com and the awesome plus tutorials on here it’s totally worth the $10 a month. And for people who say it isn’t just compare it to the cost of a community college class ($ per unit). I think you learn more useful things in these tutorials than in a class (at least from a technical perspective).

This tutorial looks awesome, I could see myself using the idea/techniques to print something to hang on my wall. THat’s when you know it’s good, when you want to put it in your own home!

    Geil!

I’m going to try out the membership, but first I would like to know if there is a way to filter all the “Vector Plus” tutorials, I would like to see them all together and avoid the extra “fishing” for the old ones…

I tried “Searching” Vector Plus, but all the tutorials (Plus and none Plus) were listed.

    Thanks in advance!
