why when I try to switch the transparency at the black arrow to screen, it turns out to white and not blending with the arrow below it?
    nice tuts anyway.. thanks..

Sandy, you’re probably clicking the wrong arrow. Keep you Transparency palette visible when you do that, it gives you a little preview of what you have selected right now. Another thing is that you might be using ‘black’ which is not quite black – make sure to zero out all the RGB values and it should help.

Thanks everyone for such a positive feedback!

Nice and simple tutorial covering a good amount of ground in super short order (Layer styles, gradients, creating brushes, tranforming objects, text effects, and more)

The best 2 parts of this tutorial is that

    1. It’s practical and a cohesive IDEA. A lot of tutorials are just tips an tricks and don’t really teach you anything besides a super specific hack.

    2. You actually explained what you were striving for before you did it. I hate when tutorails turn into simple
‘Follow the directions in order to put together this dresser’ type of things with no insight to WHY.

    Good tut overall.

Excellent tutorial, comprehensive, thought out and basically chewed into bits for Illustrator newbies like myself.

    Keep it up.
