We’ve Restructured Our Video Section and Moved to Blip.tv

We’ve moved over to Blip for our screencasts. I’ll be recording screencasts at least weekly in order to bring you some new video content that helps demonstrate techniques found in our tutorials. This ads another layer of learning to the tutorials here on Vectortuts+.

Move from Vimeo over to Blip.tv

We’ve moved from Vimeo over to Blip.tv due to the nature of our site, and Vimeo’s focus on non-commercial content. We have removed the Vectortuts group and channel from Vimeo. We still think Vimeo has some great technology and content, though we look forward to rollin’ on Blip. Here is the new Vectortuts+ page on Blip.

I’ll be demonstrating some of our tutorials as screencasts to give you another medium to learn the demonstrated tuts through. Any suggestions or requests you have for video content for the site, just let me know in the comments. I’m on a mac and using Screenflow to record the screencasts. I really like the program, which has some smooth editing features built in.

Screencasts from Elsewhere

We appreciate everyone who commented on those tutorials from elsewhere we had posted in the video section. It’s rare that we remove posts from the site, but in this case we’re restructuring the video section to focus on delivering high-quality exclusive Vectortuts+ video content on a regular basis. We appreciate your support in this!

Here are the screencasts we removed from the Videos section, so you can still find them. Some of these cover tools, tips, and techniques. There are some complex and awesome tutorials in here, as well as those aimed at beginner to intermediate artists. I’m listing these here , this way anyone that found them here originally will still be able to find them easily.

Move to Blip over on Psdtuts+

For those of you that follow Psdtuts+, we’re making the same move over there. Gavin has recorded loads of screencasts for us, and so it’s a bigger transition over there, and we’re still working on finishing up. We’ll have it finalized soon. You can check out the Psdtuts+ channel on Blip.tv here as well. Or jump over to the Psdtuts video section.

vimeo looks very nice, but i agree that their policy regarding corporate content is inconsistent and wobbly at best. blip has far better playlist players and syndication tools.

Does this mean that the videos will be so exclusive that they’ll be only for the users following the plus program?

Also, will these removed videos be transferred to Blip.tv or are these removed forever?

Good question. There are some videos in our Plus section, but what I’m referring to here as “exclusive” are videos created by our team or commissioned specifically for the Vectortuts Video section. I’m not sure if that’s the best term. Maybe I should say, “created by Vectortuts.”

Previously, we were listing tutorials created elsewhere, and there was some confusion, as some readers thought we had created these tuts. These tutorials listed above are removed from the Vectortuts video section, but you can still find them by following those links, and are hosted by their creators. We don’t own those tutorials and will not be moving them over to Blip.tv.

Not come across blip, I will have to check this out as I plan to begin using video to use tuts.
