Is there a way to take this brush and use it to turn a text path into the chain links? I’m wanting to make a simple logo for an event going on in my town, and the initials are CCC. I want to take those C’s and turn each one into a chain-link letter C. How would I do that? I’m more of a photoshop guy, so I don’t get a lot of illustrator face-time in.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, you may want to try right-clicking the text and “Create Outlines.” From there you can apply the brush to the strokes of the text.
If that’s not the result you’re looking for, you can also, once you have created the outlines of your text, use the Scissors (key shortcut ‘C’ or click and hold the Eraser and find Scissors) and cut some points and delete lines to just have a single line of chain rather than the entire stroke of the text. It may take a little more work and a bit of tweaking, but that should get the job done, too!

thanx man good effort
Geometrically impossible, flawed chain design and physically impossible rust patterns. Tell me, what ‘academy’ you work for…?
Hi Harrison
This is not a 3d art. its just a demonstrate brush. if you don’t like it – just don’t use it!!!
irmi arieli
very cool. I didn’t get why Harrison gave such a stern critic. This is a brush in Illustrator, which is never to be to complex and not 3d max.
It’s free to use and to learn from, so Mr Harrison should kindly thank Irmi
and not be so disrespectful .
Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. This is a cool brush. Harrison must have a bee in his bonnet.
Thank you very much for sharing you work like this. Keep up the good work!

Hi, Stewart!

I hope this helps at least a little bit!
