Buzzfuzz, if you don't want to correct every line manually, just select your Live Paint group and go to Object > Live Paint > Gap Options. Here you can choose "paint stops at large gaps", or assign exact gap width you want the paint to ignore. You can even choose to close all gaps, but it will draw straight paths automatically.

I preferred to correct all lines manually entering group isolation mode. Again, you may choose to highligh gaps in the same window to find them easily.

I tried doing this and some of my lines weren't connected therefore making it hard to paint each section. I thought all the lines were intersecting but apparently some weren't which put me on to frustration path. How do you make sure the endpoints are connected to eachother? Its hell of a lot of work to go back and fix every endpoint. I guess i should just start a new piece.

Thanks, Mac.
You see, I did not want to disturb people with my Russian interface in this tut. But since I have English version now, next tuts will contain screenshots just as usual.

Great effect!
Why didn't you capture the specific illustrator windows anymore? Combining the english text and cyrillic screenshots used to help me finding the equivalent operations in my german cs version :)

Yes, Margaret, nice example. I was thinking about more advanced glass-works, like glass fusing or painted glass. This tutorial can be a basis for such techniques.
