How to Create a Stylized First Aid Icon – Screencast

Create a stylized First Aid icon from a simple rectangle, is it possible? Ryan Quintal and Vectortuts+ brings you this screencast of the popular written tutorial.

" In this tutorial we’ll use a combination of craft and Illustrator’s 3D tools to create a first aid icon. You can use the techniques you learn in this tutorial to create realistic rounded box icons of your choice. This works well for complex icons at large sizes and scales down nicely. Great job, Ryan! I really like your first-aid kit a lot. Another option instead of masking the object is clipping it all the way to the edges just in case you need to show it or use it as an element of design at a larger scale where details would be very visible. ;)

When I re-size my 3D objects the the 3D sizes/settings do not scale and I get an ugly shape. Any tips?

Hey, Try to make your object bigger or smaller, the size i use in the video is about 250px wide

In Illustrator’s preferences (cntrl + k, or cmd + k) go to > Strokes and Effects and check the “scale strokes and effects box”.
