I think it is okay to say this. I say it to my friends regularly. In fact we agree about liking beer and often discuss which kinds are best. I also like design. I think that the technique might be refined a bit further for an artist's personal taste, however the fundamental concepts involved are explained quite clearly and succinctly in an organized understandable matter which is a perfect walk-through for even the novice Illustrator user.
