I think he used the pen tool– I was trying to figure it out too. using a tablet and drawing doesn’t give such clean lines. Author please enlighten us!

Very nice clean style indeed. For some reason i never seem to be able to finalise a trace. At some point it just doesnt look good and i lose my cool.
Might give it another swing soon. Yours looks awesome.
