Quick Tip: Create an Old-School Print Style Illustration

Tutorial Details
  • Program: Adobe Illustrator CS4
  • Difficulty: Intermediate
  • Length: 9:00 min

Ryan shows us how to get that old-school printed look. Mis-registered lines is key, as well as blending modes and more. You may even learn a lesson or two in the way things are printed classically. To kick us of, we will grab some resources from the Envato network.

Firstly I’m very sorry if my question has a very simple answer but I am a huge noob!

I loved the tutorial! The only thing I’m confused about is when I download the texture I always get 4 Jpegs, I don’t know if that’s an example and I’m downloading the wrong link but how do you get the texture to look like yours?

Sorry, I actually figured out something (I don’t know if it’s what you did or not) with the overlay blending option, it seems to look okay. Thanks again for the great tut! :D

Hello, i’m from Argentina, so sorry for my english jaja. The problem is: When i hit delete before start to paint, the lines just disappear, and the snicker is white.

Thank you for the great tut!

Yes – same here as previous poster – hitting delete after using the magic wand on the black lines of the sneaker, leaves me with a white sneaker shape.

Obviously we are missing something – some tips would be very appreciated -

    thanks

Use the Direct Selection Tool, click on the space between sneaker and shoelace on the left side, press delete, select it once again, delete it again.
